Whose carreer do you follow the most? Africanus? Julius Caesar? Sulla?<br>

My favorite Roman is actually Gauis Marius. Although his carreer is a little tarnished from the events following his 7th consulship, I can't help but think that many Generals' armys after him succeeded partially from Marius's contributions to the Roman army. And great generals followed Marius. His carreer is one that I admire. An "Italian hayseed with no greek" climbed the ladder to success amoungst various obstacles, including the unsupportive patrician class whose contempt often mired him.<br>
