Thanks Matt. Simple clean lines - this will also have no inset brass plate in the handguard. Many of the examples in Miks for Pompeii type swords do not seem to have them, and I have had great difficulty in finding a surviving example of a Pompeii type handguard with brass plate in place in Miks, (thanks to Matt Lukes for pointing this out - I was just going to blunder on and fit one coz everyone else does!). The wooden handguards invariably have a carved out area that firmly locates the blade into the handguard, which would suggest that a brass plate was not fitted, since these plates are held in place by the "shoulders" of the blade it seems.
