Pompeii Gladius and Scabbard - Work in Progress
#27
Salvete Omnes,

I am researching that very same piece at present. The nailheads are very small, no riveting evident on the original (Oh yes there was  ), the whole set seems to have been soldered together and the nails used for fixture of the different parts to the scabbard (oh no they weren't! ). This also ties in very well with the construction of a gladius from Mainz and another river find in Holland were the two suspention bands are still in place.

I realy love the detail of your work on that locket!! Amazing workmanship and detail. Great work!!
