It's interesting how uniform this design was across all Indo-Iranian speakers, which I guess is not that surprising given the origin of the word. I wonder how the ko-ru-to mentioned in the linear B tablets looked like.
That is wonderful example. I own a 200 year old arrow case that looks rather similar in design (though...alas..is a bit more...gaudy...in its decoration)though it's actually not that light.
