I appreciate why you would have a soft spot for "Gates" as my own is firmly entrenched in the Roderick Milton book I mentioned right at the begining (Tell Them in Sparta) which I read at school.
(My Taras Bulba movie nightmare is a Russian made, modern "epic" and not the Yul Brynner/Tony Curtis one and in my view right up there with "Henri Navare" and "1614" as a waste of a decent film budget!!)
