Hi again,
sorry for not answering, I only drop by occasionally.
The belt sets Matt posted are nice but likely from horse harness. The Illerup finds show, that big and small buckles with the same decorational pattern were used most probably as horse gear. Engelhardt also depicts a "Riemenverteiler" with the same pattern.

Concerning belt buckles from Vimose I know of only one example that was used on a sword belt for sure. It is the one with runic inscription. The other buckles could also be worn on the body belt.

From Illerup Adal Thorsberg i Know of some more examples of buckles from the sword belts. But in Vimose were found a lot of baldric fasteners therefore it is possible that the rolemodel of your sword has been worn on a roman style sword belt.

How are your German reading skills? I could send you an excerpt from my PhD thesis, the excerpt dealing with the question how germanic sword belts were constructed.
Kind regards
Suzana
