Didn't mean to suggest that he's the illustrator, but someone illustrated it and it looks better tham Raffaele Ruggeri's Osprey plates. Thanks for the info about Andrey Negin.

I have yet to see the level of picture plagiarism in a Raffaele d'Amato (co-)authored title as in An Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Uniforms of the Roman World. Almost a year to publication, so I'll wait for previews.
