It seems like the test failures for the Dragon Skin are controversial. it apparently passed most tests but was somehow not adopted because thermal effects caused the discs to dislodge? I just looked over the Wikipedia article, and armour obtained for scrutiny after testing seemed to be intact and functional. I wonder if heat from explosives etc. could penetrate the overlap of the discs and cause injury, or the method for affixing and connecting the discs was damaged by thermal effects.
