Roman Tombstone, Lancaster

Quote:Gor blimey, that developer does meet all the criteria for an obnoxious bastard who only thinks about money, doesn't he? "The archaeological guys were more excited than me. I thought, ‘Oh my God, this will hold up the development’. At the end, the proof of the pudding is how much it is worth."

OT but related:

When they built the new Constitution center here in Philly, they uncovered an icehouse from the first executive residence of the United States. Turns out it is the only surviving piece of George Washington's house here. The icehouse, which he designed himself, was patterned after his in Mt. Vernon. He even wrote a letter about it, so we recognized it right away.

My prof got three weeks with it before they bulldozed it.

Consider this for a moment. Developers working for the US gov't...building a building commemorating the US Constitution...destroyed the last surviving bit of our first executive residence...DESIGNED...by the Father of our country.

ARRRRGGH!!

DEATH to DEVELOPERS!!
