Woadwarrior- I think you’re expecting soldiers to look like the walking tanks of movies. Rome and her allies wore a large variety of armor, some just pants and war paint. You’re expecting to see the same for the reenactors, some reenactors wear the armor you’re expecting, some are wearing armor representing other tribes or periods. You need to look at other site like Neuraleanus’s to see the Romans you’re expecting.

Browse the internet looking for Roman reenactors and I’m sure after seeing a few sites you’ll realize that they do portray Rome the way your expecting and won’t be disapointed.
