You can kill the shine of a decal with a misted coat of clear flat - helps seal the decal, too. If you don't use an airbrush, artist supply stores sell several canned varieties. But if you are good enough with a brush not to use an airbrush, you are good enough to brush on the clear flat. If you are not familiar with the technique, clear flats are easier to apply as several thinned coats, especially when brush applied.<br>

On the offhand chance that you are a figure modeler unfamiliar with the particulars of decals, I mention that decals are best applied over a glossy surface.<br>

Please pardon me if I'm carrying coals to Novuscastra, but I've been in scale modeling off and on for over forty years, and I've learned that modelers of different genre's speak only vaguely related languages, and frequently have astonishingly different knowledge bases and skill sets.
