A Repro Sarmatian Akinakes
#2
Salve or Alanic/Ossetian 'Ushta te',
here is the Russian archaeologist approach to akinakes' carriage http://history.novosibdom.ru/node/49
also there is an interesting article by A.S. Skripkin (2000 -Volgograd) on the Sarmatian culture and its Han (Chinese) links, including Orlat.
Alanus
Some more article and books to look at and study: (perhaps you already did)
It is interesting that Russian found huge swords from III century BC Sarmatian kurgans in the Volga region, but with short handle/grip, almost like the later Ottoman Turkish and Polish 'koncerz' (estock).
Also Kozhukhov (1999) wrote an article about Kuban Sarmatians and their weaponry and armor - eg amazing helmets sort of the type described by the 'Shahnameh' for Rustam etc, and several swords, and armor reconstruction.
And fine monograph on the Sarmatian warfare and weaponry by Khazanov (1971)
