I managed to track down my original reference and discovered that most of the Roman jewellery books originate from one curator at the British Museum, Catherine Johns. The one book I remember is:<br>

"Jewellery of Roman Britain" isbn 0472107666 but she has also done<br>
"Snettisham Roman Jeweller's Hoard" isbn 0714123102.<br>

Most are expensive, probably coffee table type books, but you can get them for less through Abebooks. <p>Legio XX <br>
