The problem is is that no one really knows how the Roman army fought. Triple lines? single combat? shock effects? slow paces? running and throwing pila? movement by files or ranks? We dont' even have 1st century drill commands! So if you do combat, is it even done correctly?<br>
As part of a historical display, you would have to add disclaimers that you're not sure exactly how the Romans fought, and that the simulation does not include the effects of death and discipline. So, the authenticity of combat is impossible to achieve anyway.<br>
You can do combat training, as best it would be understood, which is where I think using Bruggemann's work would be really illustrative. <p>Richard Campbell, Legio XX.
