Quote:say to be the correct translation of "Molon lave"
In Latin, wouldn't that be something like (imperative mood)
Wash Molon??
In Greek, well, I guess it might be different, eh?

It may have been said, but I'll throw it in anyways.
"The Spartans ask not how many, but where are they."
Said by a Spartan king, Aegus II or somesuch. Please do correct me.

Quote:"A violin is an instrument of torture that produces noise by dragging the hairs of a horse across the guts of a cat."
Ambrose Bierce
David,
I love it, but try as I might I cannot verify it. Can you give me a source?

It's been forever since I read it, but I think the title is "The Devil's Dictionary". Curmudgeon to the bone.
He has a bunch of anti-musical instrument quotes in it. "The only thing worse than one saxophone is two saxophones."

Actually it was clarinets. I found the Devil's Dictionary, which has many outrageously funny quotes but not that one.

Couldn't find anything directly on Saxophones.
I'll quote the violin passage as being "attributed" to Ambrose Bierce.
