So, why not use pics of Benachie and touch them up Tarb.....?
@ Ceannt, yes I'm sure you guys are good, but we all know who the real conquerers of Britain were  See my signature below......

Finding the photos taken from the correct angle.... getting rid of the modern man made structures.... including getting rid of roads.... paying more for the photos....

We did in the early versions
http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z82/ ... PTcopy.jpg
Unfortunately the Batavians were fighting up the hill so as there are no photos available of the view downwards Tarbi created the excellent background.
Of course he did make one error in so much as he forgot to show the encampment of the Legionaries who were all busy - as normal - in the rear polishing their helmets according to Tacitus. There again the glare from their shiny tin hats would have spoilt the photo so a wise move on the part of my fellow Merseysider really.
By the way I still haven't heard a comment from the sheild dropper yet!

so just a little reminder.

You surely can't be refering to me.....I thought you were talking about the guy in the back row, whos shield was on the ground....!
My shield is that low because I'm shorter than everyone else....and also, I like to lure the enemy in thinking he has an easy target......

Great pic of the cuneus- also shows why the Adamklissi metope soldiers have put on greaves- a lot of bare shins to target other wise!! I've also seen that riot police world wide seem to do the same in crowd control.
Cheap, simple kit- every miles would want one (or even a pair)?

2008 listings so far..
http://www.romanarmy.net/events.htm .
The Colchester event has been listed incorrectly it would seem. There isn't a Military festival in 2008. The actual event will be purely Roman, with various military groups, civilian life, gladiators, chariot racing etc etc.. and held in the grounds of the Colchester Castle Museum (Castle Park)

So what are the plans for the Rome event?
How is everyone transporting their gear?
Are the vans being used, or are people flying?
Who all is going?
I am interested in this, just need to see when I am off.

My group will most likely be at Rome too next year 8) . We're trying to figure out the best way to transport our gear too. Not an easy thing.

It will be a major headach I think, for large and small groups trying to get there. I have no idea what problems customs will cause at borders, and definately would want to be going under the auspices of the group, rather than trying to get there on my own hock:

All our gear (those that go) will be driven over in the Legio II AVG lorry I expect same as 2005.
We then all fly out under our own arrangements.
All the equipment can be listed under 'Theatrical Properties' which saves a lot of hassle at customs!
