Quote:4 wheeler chariot...PS: Remember Stefanos, the topic about chariot?, now great to see that not only Etruskans & Summerians, but Greeks as well
I'm not so sure that a 4 wheeled chariot as opposed to an odd portrayal of a 2 wheeled chariot.

Quote:Oh I know what you mean... So they tryed to show perspective...
Actually the 4 wheeled Sumerian chariot from the Steele of Vultures is frequently misreplicated due to the artists attempt at perspective. What should be the frontspiece of the chariot, comes out looking like the side- leaving the front to look like a box.

The only 4-wheeled chariot remnants are in Nat. Museum Athens and it was a priestess ceremonial wagon rather than chariot.
Kind regards

The chariot is most likely a 2 wheeled one. Artists of the same period did the same with some of their ships, showing the profile together with view from above. Actually Picaso did the same and became famous for this(showing different captions of objects at the same time)

Might I suggest a little tact from you Daniel. I see that your 13, but even my young children have learned manners. A simple thank you and some polite discussion would go a long way. These people are being kind trying to help you when in reality they owe you nothing. Your posts are very short and are coming off demanding with little thanks for what they are providing. It just looks very rude to say the least, and someone should point it out. Even the internet should have etiquette. Sorry, don't mean to get off topic, but I feel it needed to be said.

Ok. Thank you guys for your wonderful contribution to this thread in which was brought forth as a result of my fascination with the armies of Ancient greece. I did already know that my post was rude and I apologize if anyone did not like that. But I truly am thankful. Im suprised that manufacturers of wargaming figures have made no miniatures depicting the greek armies of the 8th century. I can be polite, but thats usually when im in scool and talking with my friends. I am in a special education class, but not because i need help with my speech, but because i need help with certain subjects like writing and social studies. a few months ago we learned about ancient greece and my social studies class we be learning about ancient soon. And again i apologize for my rude behavior and i thank you all for contributing pictures.

Thanks for the Link Stefanos. Giannis. You know that picture of the battle between the two hoplite armies that you post the first page? Which book did you get that from? Thanks in advance.

Daniel, that scene with the two hoplite armies was made by Peter Connolly, the same artist did the sitting 7th century hoplite. He's a historian and artist,so he's rather accurate usually. He's made a series of books some of them about Greece. "Greece and Rome at War" and "The Greek Armies" and others, but it's in none of those i know. I think Gioi saw it in an encyclopedia, and it was him who first saw the plate on the net...perhaps he knows more.
