Thanks, folks!
Yes. It's a Halflinger Avelignese. He has a calm temperament, but it's a little hard to make mi him to obey when he don't want... and it's neck have a very strong force, more than other horses!!
He is very strong, but it's quick, too. Have a very elegant trot, and it's almost impossible to get it tired. But, in the other hand, it's very often a little lazzy.
As i never have make horse riding, i think it's a good horse to learn with it.

I only say pony as they are 14.2hh by average in the breed (max height that in this days and age constitutes a 'pony' for some reason), but you are right - they are known as the 'haflinger horse'..
Indeed, Haflingers can be stubborn, but once you get them going - they are little sweethearts and very willing.. I used to ride one years ago that had to have his lovely mane docked due to a bad case of sweetitch
Quite an adventurous breed to learn to ride with however - I wish you all the best

As you can see, the julio-claudian pieces are hinged by a kind of duck's head. That piece are not soldered, so very often with the trot of the horse, the pieces falls...
Roman pieces were made in such way, this is the reason because there are such high number of those pieces founded.
I will put some araldit or glue, to avoid loose more pieces...

How does the horse mind that style of saddle?

The horse don't mind specially. But, as you can see, our saddle is not quite good. We are working in find a good saddle... or to make it.

It all looks splendid.
I found it easier to learn to ride without the stirrups, and some of our new riders find the same. Not everybody, but the majority. Do you have to travel far to ride? It's hard somethimes by yourself, especially in the rain and the cold.
Anyway keep on going. Get one saddle and others soon seem to turn up. After that they breed.
Best wishes
John
