You're right, Jurjen, the guy with the attic helmet it's me and the one with the silvered version in the background is Giuseppe Garo, our tribune!
Hello Marcus, our attic helmets are a totally custom realization of Adelmo and Giuseppe Cialone, artisans based in Tivoli, not far from the villa of Emperor Hadrian, and are modeled on the statue you see in the picture attached, found in the Basilica Aemilia in the Roman forum. Cialone already had something similar in its catalog, but these two specimens were created while I was with them in the workshop while they forged the helmets having the possibility to give indications in real time. The helmets are hand-forged from a single piece of brass; the one of Giuseppe Garo, not visible in the photo taken at Marle, has the skull and bucculae fully embossed and subsequently has been silvered, mine is substantially plain and then fitted on bucculae with plates of sterling silver on which are embossed scorpions, as seen on helmets attributed to the Praetorian Guard on the Trajan Column. If you want, you can find their contact through the website: http://www.artecialone.it
Mind that they have a great talent, but not great subject knowledge and a tendency on the fantasy, so if you want they make something for you, they must be followed step by step or with all the information and the possible images of authentic piece.
I'm glad we finally solved your mystery,

Ilario, Thank you for the information !!! it is indeed what i am looking for, and also is the helmet of the statue !! i have been looking for a long time for a helmet like your helmets to accurately try and portray a legate or consul. I have a musculata which needs a lot of work still, 1900's brass/bronze type, unembossed, fairly plain,
and was looking for attic helmets which do not look like the well known praetorian helmets, but rather more like yours and the Autun type which was found near Bibracte in Gaul.... The link sure does help !!
I will get in touch with you via PM or email soon.
Best wishes,

Quote:What a fantastic event,
In my opinion, some UK event organisers could take a leaf out of Alain Nice's book, in terms of how to put on a cracking event. The hospitality was excellent, the camaraderie and mutual respect between groups was (as usual at Marle) nice. Also the thing that was highly apparent at Marle was the lack of fuss and red tape and rules that seem to swamp the UK re enactment scene,In a typical French laid back manner, the event was easy going but nevertheless, efficient and well organised. So hats of to Alain and his dedicated team.
Also a 'big up' to the ESG for their after show antics in the marquee, it all added to the entertainment.
My only gripe, as a typical englishman, is my complaint about the weather! as a fair skinned Northerner, it was too HOT!!
A great event indeed. And the weather was too hot even for the Spaniards.
Thank you very much for everything, Bruce. I hope to see you soon…

The "red haied chick" is from my group LEG VI COH II cimbria Denmark, and I would realy like to know why we wont be Invited again ?? Her kit was fine, the only problem was that she does not have a helmet Yet ? I am sure that the Danes, who spent 4 days of there lives, doing the best they could, would like to know WHY they wont be invited again, for this reason?

But she is not a legionary, she is a auxilia, and as far as I know, there were females in the auxilia. Anyway, it is a poor attitude to have. Just to shutdown the only Danish group involvement in Marle , instead of just saying to us, "Guys, next year, don't have any girls in arms". We are a new group (only 5 years) and getting a Roman reenactment group like ours, up and running, out of a population of only 5 million total, is no small thing. I would think that the rest of the reenactment groups would want to help us and support us, instead of baning / not inviting us, because of, what they see as one mistake. Im sorry, but most of us took days of from work and drove 1200 km in one day to be in Marle, and this is the thanks we get ? We are not idiots with rubber helmets, We are serious reenactors. I am not a leader of our group, just a low legionary, so what i say here is not the opinion of LEG VI COH II cimbria, but my own opinion.
