can anyone point me to laws regarding murder or attempted murder ? I cant seem to find anything on the net about roman laws.

I do not remember having found much on Roman law online, although I have made some searches.
Probably, your solution is: to go to the library, which is still a better place to look for information than the internet.

ironically I saw a program on the history channel about law and punishment in the city of Rome. pretty basic but did provide a few case examples of the justice system and some good commentary from some well known classicists.

Who were the Roman equivilants of the Police around the 1-2nd century? Was it done by the military or did each town/city have its own public force. Or did the Empire employ people as keepers of the peace or was it done by rich senetors. I have read some of the law and tables, but I am still a little hazy on who mantained the peace.
