Vale,
Thanks for the info Marcus.Useful matterial indeed
I agree, that's a useful source, Marcus.
Giannis, you could also use bone, which can give a very nice finish and may well have been used in our period. For attaching the slings, you really need to rivet through the wood, before you join the two sides of the scabbard. So, you put on the leather, then the fittings and then you join. Since you've already closed the scabbard, you could fit a single sheet of brass or copper, with all four rings attached, just below the locket, or scabbard mouth-piece.
It's a great sword. Olvios also shows one on the Phalanx Forum, which is very plain, made by a Greek craftsman. It, too, is very impressive.

Thanks for the comments and advice, guys.
Paul, yes I should have thought about this earlier, but my impatience to see it being complete made me forget some things. Now it's a bit more difficult to make the whole thing.

I was forgetting; antler is even nicer for sword-hilts, but it would be difficult to find a piece you could use for the chape.

Wow,it seems it was your best re-enacting event so far!Is this your whole group,Kurt?(excluding the Hallstat and Celts).Wolfgang is the best Greek peltast I've seen, along with one from Athena Promachos. And I see he's updated his clothes into more "Macedonian" ones, with the new sleeved chiton. And the javelins have loops.Do they work fine,Wolfgang?
Your co-hoplite with the blue chiton has the best deepeeka corinthian out there.Of course I know he made the crest himself, but once again we see that deepeeka from deepeeka has difference.
Congratulations

Ah,hope it,too! What did you say,you have a hetaira?Your re-enactment group is beyond all others! 8) The word translated in modern Greek means just "friend" or "companion",in this case "girl friend" So you're getting bigger and bigger!
Oh,and what about your linothorax Kurt?

Musician?Yes,this is as accurate as it can get.In many vases hetaires are playing different musical instrauments. So you're 9 members now, with the hetaira, right? It's amazing how fast greek re-enactment is spreading through the world!Any native Greeks in your group,Kurt?

I think that many people had the interest for quiet some time but someone has to start it....
Yes we are 9 and no, we don't have any native Greeks in our group yet, unfortunatly.
