Hi all,
This (locked) topic will be kept up to date with the program and everyone who'll be there. Discussions go here: http://www.romanarmy.com/rat/viewtopic.php?t=12159

Location: Kolpinghuis, Nijmegen

Timeframe: Friday, Nov.9th, 12.00 - Sunday, Nov.11th, 14.00 with a optional excursion in the afternoon.

Program (provisional):
Friday: 12.00-14.00: meetup lunch at Stationszicht (right across from the train station)
Friday: 15.00-18.00: Visit to the Roman temple of Elst (Provincial depot wasn't possible)
Friday: 18.00- : dinner at the Gallisch Eetcafe, drinks
Saturday: 9.00-12.00: lectures by Robert V, Svenja and Susanna
Saturday: 12.00-14.00: lunch
Saturday: 14.00-17.00: Museum het Valkhof, walk around Nijmegen
Saturday: 17.00- : dinner at Donatello's. Hey, it may be simple, but it's very affordable and they can take a big group!
Sunday: 9.00-12.00: lectures by Jona, Christian and Jasper
Sunday: 12.00-13.00: lunch
Sunday: 13.00-21.00: excursion to Haltern & dinner (provisional)

Lodging
Affordable city center hotels are:
- the Apollo Hotel ***, 65 euros/night single room, 85 for a double room (closest to Het Kolpinghuis)
- the Atlanta Hotel ***, 57.50 and 83,50 respectively
- the City Park Hotel *** from 48, 80 euros respectively.
Please take into account that these hotels are fairly small, so book on time!

We've checked at the Apollo hotel. They have rooms available for that weekend, but no discount is forthcoming

Low budget options:
- Catharina Hotel **, from 36 euros, but slightly outside the city center
- Nijmegen has several b&b's, which are usually cheap and simple. They may be further outside the town center however.

Early reports are that the Conference is a raging success, although several people wear black suits to mourn the non-attendance of the rest of RAT.

And one final image:

For me, although I could only attend one of the three days, it was a great day, and fun too. We had about 20 people attending (Jasper, could you update the list?), the lectures went well, the museum was a good place to visit and dicsuss stuff, and the food (iatalian, of course  ) was very good.

Plus, I did not miss my train (safe by a minute)..

Wonderful museum!
I think you should name our colleagues in the photos, so that we can see who was lucky enough to attend.
Especially this fellow ...

I found this conference a nice one. It was good to see people again, meet some new, and have a good talk.

It was a good weekend, with interesting lectures and I wanna thank all attendances for being there, and made it happen! Thank you.

Hope to see you next year in Mainz!

That's not entirely true Smile Some of them have a RAT account (but indeed several of the members of Legio XI who have a RAT account weren't present).

So, next to me there is Tom Pinceel (my brother) who is 'Caius Titius Verus' on RAT, next to him is Annika Devroe, who is 'Tiberia Decimia Flava' on RAT, and at the head of the table (wearing a blue sweater) is Jurgen Schultz, who is known as 'Quintilianus' here on RAT.

We had a very nice time in Nijmegen, although 7 hours of sleep over 3 packed days isn't enough really

At times our group seemed doomed, getting lost in the town and arriving late several times, waiting for a long time for a lazy landlord to come and receive his money etc...

But we had great fun, thanks everyone who put work into organising this!
Too bad there weren't a bit more people present.

Kind regards,
Jef

You're wearing a hoodie, Jasper? You'll get kicked out of museums in the UK for doing that!!
