One of the efects we observed is that if the pilum penetrated its weight would cause it to rotate through the wood of the shield, the shield acting as a fulcrum if you will, making it it look as if it was bending.
Jef, have you noticed a difference between a spinning pilum and one that flew without or with minimal spin?
