It would be hilarious if she was the ugliest person in the world, but then how was she able to be so good with foreign affairs

From what I have read she was average looking but she had good people and pr skills. No Venus by any means.

Actually, I reckon the actress who played her in Rome HBO, is probably a good likeness, while she may not be the accepted norm of beauty, she certainly rocked my boat........

Quote:From what I have read she was average looking but she had good people and pr skills. No Venus by any means. Well, she didn't need to be Venus. She had that special allure that more than made up for it. From what I know, just being queen on Egypt wasn't enough to have both Julius Caesar and Marc Antony enthralled with her, yet they were. Come to think of it, that sounds like a few ex girlfriends of mine .

A coin is no real judge of whether the person was attractice or not....even caesar was looking pretty ropey on coins....
I have know girls with the same profile as the coin depiction of Cleo and the actress who played her in Rome...... You would think they would be ugly, but she had an appeal that was hard to resist, (mind you young and nubile has its appeal to the older man as well), but there is more to it than that......juis ne sai qua or how ever you spell it....

Avete fraters,
As woman: My favourite period is late republic and the principate and the reason is plain: The Ladies were more independent than earlier :-) ) As man: My favourite period is late republic and principate, generaly Caesars time and The golden age of the empire. I would be a Roman legionar and fight for the glory of Rome under my favourite emperors (Vespasian, Traian, M. AVrelivs...), but mainly during the reign of imp. M. Ulpius Traianus, because He is a great emperor for me, I like him well :-) )

I think I would have prefered AD 69 for this was the dawn of a new age, having got rid of all those Julio Claudians. It would have been great to be along with G. Julius Agricola kicking seven bells out of all those jocs'.

That's no problem!,the U.S.A in the late 1930's/early 1940's,but with the following conditions-1)I would have to be in my early 20's(i wish),2)and be surrounded by those wonderful U.S Navy/Marine Corps airplanes and, best of all,3)get to as many live performances by Glenn Miller and his Orchestra as possible(kids, ask your grandparents about that one) .

I would not have to ask anyone for I was around when Glenn Millar was top of the pops.
