Food for the Late Roman
#1
Hi Caius here, I been away for a while, death in the family. I like to know what would be proper food stuffs to take out on trips. When ever I go out it seems we dont eat proper period food. I would like to know what is ok and whats not. Thanks Cheers THOMAS/Caius

This book by Paul Elliott is PERFECT for reconstructing a "late roman meal":

Hi Thomas,

Sorry to hear that, but glad that you're back.

I second the suggestions made above, especially Paul's book!

Late Roman meal?

Sorry. Nothing left. Kitchen's closed. Be on time next time. Maybe we can scrounge up a crust or two and a gnarly cheesy bit. The goat's milk is a tad off but I'm sure it'll be okay.

That'll teach for being a Late Roman.
