Winter sunset and Solstice
#1
I was just in time dropping off my daughter to get some pictures of the sun setting over the Limes in Germania Secunda.

Something totally poetic about the sun setting, a Late Roman watchtower in silhouette...you know.

They're all wonderful. I think I like the second one best, though.

Is there any plan to add to this tower? Like a wooden wall, gate, anything else? It seems so lonely out there. Minas Morgul and suchlike....

They are all great! They also remind me of winter in Alberta, sans watch tower.... 8)

Very nice and poetic pics, Robert. You are a skilled photographer!
What a pity the contemporary elements (car, sign, asphalt, etc...), may I doctor the pics and add something of roman?

BTW, seen that the Winter Solstice was just yesterday and today the Sun begins his new rise, have a good Dies Natalis Soli Inuicti.

Hello Robert,

They are all beautiful pics. I do agree with Jona...that third pic would make a fine wallpaper for a (ahem...mine...LOL) desktop. Big Grin

Hi Daniele,

Of course, be my guest. The landscape is riddled with modern influences though; roads, farms, even power lines, a railroad in the background and a motorway not a mile off!
