Late Romans in Milan - the Life of St Ambrose
#1
I was tipped about this very nice event in Milan:

Quote:Dear friends,
I send to you two links of two photo galleries;
http://www.capodannoceltico.com/eventi/ ... /index.htm
http://www.legio-i-italica.it Go to "Galleria" "Foto" "Corteo storico per le vie di Milano" (there are 3 pages of thumbnails).

The photos have been done during the Historical parade of
S.Ambrosius in Milan (7th december).

On our site ( www.storinsubria.it ) we will put some photos in the
next weeks.

I believe it was the first reenactment show of the IV century A.D.
in Italy (there are some popular shows around Italy but not
historical ...)

We have reconstructed the life of S. Ambrosius, Bishop of Milan in
374 A.D. in the centre of the town (Sforza's Castle to the Duomo).
There were soldiers, bishops and monks, civilian, noble people and
some German people (with typical costume, a bit elder for the 4th
Century ... ). We were 80 people.

I have done the project for the Milan municipality and my groups has
organized the theatrical scenes and the logistic aspects of the
event.

It is the beginning of our work on this period and it was very hard
(we have had less than two months to prepare costumes for 50 people,
weapons, jewels, footwear ...)
Milan was very full of people and they were very interested and
astonished to see this "new" historical period reenactment.

It was not all perfect, beacuse of the little time available and the
problems connected to a new reenactment period.
The people who came with us, usually work on Celtic period, Imperial
Roman, middle age and someone on the American Civil War (I do it too
with 10th Luoisiana Co."I").

If you have some advice or critics about it, please send them to me.
Bye
Jan
