I find myself detouring to check out toy stores to see if they have the latest, particularly the family and gauls.

My excuse is they're for my grandson, even if he is only four months.

I feel the same way especially after I got mine. Every costumer in the store and every employee was staring at me as if I didn't have pants on or something.

Not so here in Burbank.

Compared to the hordes of "older gentlemen" trying to find the latest Hot Wheels toy car those of us looking for Playmobil Romans are practically invisible.

And Richard, as for your 4-month old grandson, you can never start collecting too soon.

Just wait until next year when they release the Egyptians -- it will be pandemonium in the toy aisles.

We should be so lucky :?

My bet is on Playmobil Samurai and then perhaps ancient Chinese.

Just a guess (or wishful thinking).

Then of course we could settle once and for all that age old Forum Debate: Ancient Rome Vs. Ancient Japan.

Well...

There is this web site:

http://www.gardenwargaming.com/index.html

Not quite World War II Armies Vs. Ancient Rome, but perhaps a step in that direction.

Amazing what one can do with these little Playmobil figures...

Those are awesome. I own a Gladiator from Mobil myself, but I am a lego fan. I made about 30 legionaries, one centurion, 3 standard bearers including the aquilifer, cornicen, and lots of barbarians to fight. maybe ill post pictures one of these days.

Now that is some impressive work -- The Rocketeer is great, as are the Romans, but those Spartans really take the prize.

Thanks for the link! Smile

And Decimus, please do favor us with some photos of your Lego legionaries.8)

It would be great if Lego had a range of sets for Ancient Rome, Egypt, etc similar to their Knights & Vikings. Perhaps some day they will. :?
