Roman Army Order of Battle
#1
Avete.
Can anyone please steer me onto any thread which provides the ORBAT of the Roman Army at various times.

In short, the sort of thing I'm after is a list of legions and auxiliary units, their titles and locations. I'm most interested in the late Republic and early Empire but any help will be gratefully received.

It may be that someone would reword my query as an Army List? I've tried searching but got tangled in too many wrong threads

Thanks

Try Ritterling on the main site:

There's also Livius' extensive articles:

Josephus writes about the order of march of Titus and Vespasian's armies during the Jewish war in some detail.

Arrian's 'Tactica' goes into extreme detail but for a later period. He even mentions who should be in command of which company etc.

Both are available to study online IIRC
