The auxiliaries of the Ermine Street Guard (Coh I Tungrorum) also use the wreath and ribbon blazon on their shields..

There's also a nice reconstructed curved legionary shield by Michael Simkins in his book 'Warriors of Rome'with the wreath patern on it.

Actually Peroni, if you take a look at Simkins picture he uses the word 'hypothetical' to describe the design. That's always puzzled me as I would have thought it to be perfectly plausible.

If any of you have the book 'Hadrian's Wall in the Days of the Romans' by Donald Embeldon, you will see many wreath based Scuta artworks. What his references were I don't know, but they look well and lets face it, a lot of this stuff is just cosmetic, isn't it :wink:
