I dunno I log off for a few hours and there's a posting frenzy!
I want that castle please. I shall start a Libitina-Wants-A-Bavarian-Castle charity, I'll accept Paypal. I'll have free roaming penguins in the grounds in honour of this thread. I'm not sure if Bavarians would be compared to Scots. What do the other Germans have as a Bavarian stereotype? Ewan, I don't know what I'd dress as, I'm at a loss but at least if I went as a morris dancer I could skip about waving a hanky. Not often one can get away with appearing like a complete loon

The only problem must be the queues of tourist clogging everything up in the Summer.
Mind you, I'm also pretty partial to 'im Norden' ...ah, Jever beer!, etc, etc. Libitina, a party invite and nothing to wear eh? It's the same old story. Go on, surprise us, we're relying on you girl.

Memmia, m'Dear, you can wind my kilt around and use it as a sort of shawl instead. mmm, (thinks), will have to remember to pack Nike running shorts for just this sort of contingency (don't want to scare the penguins! (did you like that subtle attempt to get back on theme Libs?))

I collected these stereotypes about bavarians on the net:
Collective speaking imparance hillbillys conservative have many old & beatiful buildings traditional catholic unhurried & snug hike a lot in the mountains jodeling Schuhplattling (trad. dancing) beer gardens fairs strong-beer-fairs @ Libitina Don´t be too fast with Neuschwanstein. There is also Linderhof: www.schlosslinderhof.de/index.htm Or you could use the money to finish Burg Falkenstein. The plans are still there. Unfortunately the King was drowned by Prussian Henchmen  before the Castle was finished: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_Falkenstein Or you could go for Hohenschwangau, the Castle of the King´s parents, just vis-a-vis from Neuschwanstein: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Hohenschwangau If it were me, I´d take Linderhof, since it is quietest, and further away from civilisation than the others are.

Spoilt for choice now with the castles. I think I'd like to be near civilisation so I can look down on all the peasants. Maybe I'll take two so I can get away from it all... or an escape pad for when the peasants revolt. And Ewan. Oi.. there's worse things to smell of than fish. Like... ermmm... hmm.. I'll get back to you.
