Stratospheric Archaeology
#1
The Landesamt für Denkmalpflege Sachsen-Anhalt has introduced a new archaeological method, which is called "stratospheric archaeology", where pics of higher air layers made with special cameras / filters can identify certain chemicals in the areas above former settlements, thus giving information about industries and agriculture etc.
They have a new plane (archaeoflot Wink ) and introduce the new results in the rubric': "find of the month".
Only in German, though, but quite interesting:

"Der Verband der Landesarchäologen hat sich daher bereits in einem Schreiben an die Internationalen Raumfahrtbehörden gewandt, um über archäologische Schutzzonen in der Stratosphäre zu verhandeln."
The Society of Provincial Archaeologists has therefore contacted the international space agencies, to negotiate protected archaeological areas in the Stratosphere."

Anscheinend.
