An online revival of the ancient art of blacksmithing
#1
I know it's usually not kosher to post what you sell on forums, but try to imagine that I'm just another web surfer who strolled upon this website, and that I'm excited to tell people of similar interest so that they may benefit from it. (because that's how I found it and landed the job in the first place, so it isn't too far from the truth).

My friend Trent Tye is a blacksmith, one of a dieing breed who still wields metal with his bare hands like clay to make tools and weapons. I'm sure there are a few people on this forum who know blacksmiths, and may even be blacksmiths by the look of the marketplace, but the trade is dieing out. and a lot of replica swords and movie props are being machined out these days. He and I want to make sure that the craft doesn't die out forever.

At www.purgatoryironworks.com , we've made an ever growing set of videos online that teach blacksmithing from the ground up. They're easy to follow, and have good video quality. The site gets updated regularly with new projects and techniques as well.

Here are some sample videos:

This one here is something that was cooked up for fun.

Trent spends a lot of time at Renaissance festivals and historical reenactments himself, so he's not unfamiliar with the territory of this site, and may even know some people from here.

I just wanted to share what we do here on the forum because many of you may actually benefit from it. Feel free to give us any feedback on what you'd like to see in the videos or anything you think should be changed. I'm still in the process of remodeling the website, so there will be some graphical changes soon.
