the "CAESAR" bust

which they found in the Rhone looks like this:

cool, the third thread on Caesars bust. Big Grin

I tried to compare the pictures as well, but only those that are to find in the web and all show different angles unfortunately, making comparing very difficult. further, all other busts are presumed AFAIK to derive from his deathmask. additionally we don't know whether any of the masons saw Caesar actually alive or if they worked on orders by others and also is in every piece of art always some interpretation of the artist. so this bust could still be Caesar.

thats an interesting point. do we know how much money one would have had to spent for a bust like this? and second how many artists would have been able to make such a bust?

... anyway, when we think about how closely related the upper class families were and their same ethnic background, it shouldn't be surprising if many of them looked similiar. :?
