Those two pictures are impressive. The velocity of the weapons upon release is quite amazing and I am sure it could tear up a cavalry charge as long as the troops maintained their discipline in ranks.
Has anyone ever timed how fast they could snap off five in mass to get area coverage on a troop like formation.
On a more humorous note, I think I now see where the the popular outdoor toy, the "Lawn Dart" came from.
