Available gear much improved now. What else is needed?

So some duplication of development effort is inevitable but that is not necessarily a bad thing as a wider range of variations and quality of products results. Also competition SHOULD result in better quality items available.

I fully agree with you on that, but that was not what was meant to say. I see that there is some growing amount of products under development, which means that when I do develop an item nowadays I've to wait longer for the next prototype than I had last year, as they've to work on more projects at the same time.

I agree it is taking longer because of the increased number of new accurate items that are in the works but at the same time as makers get more experience the development time for each individual item will drop a little.
I guess it is the price we pay for getting so much new gear available!
