Hi,

I got it from Kult of Athena. They had it at the lowest price, approximately $100 USD. Thanks for the tip, though. People should know Kult has a lot of good stuff at low prices though it's a mixed bag. The only other place that sells the Frankish sword, afaik, is By The Sword.

I'll probably modify the scabbard to look like the one in the attachment below.

Not a bad sword. Is it poorly balanced-- too heavy a blade? I have a Saxon sword by Deepeka that's a real dog. Cry

The Frankish sword picuture on this thread has a two-step guard. This is a little different than the actual sword owned by Childeric. Most of these Frankish and Alamannic swords of the Migration Era can be traced to the "Black Sea" style, as originated by the combined ethnos of Gothic-Alanic. The fanciest models had straight grips with a few raised ribs, just like the Frankish sword. The hilt grip was studded in cloisene and/or Indic garnets. As for the blades, I would guess they may have been folded-iron or steel (as in "chalybis"). Smile
