Kasr el-Harit / Fayun scutum
I have some dimension for this scutum:
- height (about 1.28m)
- chord (about .635m)
.. but not the width of the face, (the measurement along the outer surface of the scutum). None of the resources I have contain that dimension!
Anyone able to assist?

Perhaps the museum keepers will be of more help? Where ever it is kept...?

don't know if this helps much, but when I faced the same problem earlier, I made a crude 3-D cpmputer model according to the few available pictures and tried to figure out the dimensions by matching it with the drawings. My only conclusion was the Fayum is quite deep, approx. 20 cm in the middle (may be more). If so the arch segment (=width of face?) should be about 84 cm, (supposed radius = 35 cm).

AFAIK, the scutum seems to have disappeared. It's supposed to be in some Egyptian museums depot, but nobody knows.

That's a bit dissappointing.......maybe if I ever get back there, I can get one of the local guys to ask them about it....but don't go holding your breath.....

Thanks much, Carsten
The info could help, but what I need is the actual dimension and the source too if at all possible.
