Interesting that it was found, Maybe other pet remains were cremnated as in the roman tradtion. Because humans tend to give pets the same burial they would have.

Are you talking about this, the cast from Pompeii?

I always hated this cast. It looks so heartbreaking.

Of course, that dog in Pompeii wasn't buried on purpose by the homeowners. Cry

Not exsactly I had to put my dog to sleep in February of this year, I buried him in my garden. Since dog are a pet and consider part of the family now like in ancient times that perhaps most pets were just cremnated.

I don't know if I've ever heard how Romans disposed of pets. This article may be interesting, if anyone has access to JSTOR:

The first page mentions Martial writing about a "monument" and epitaphs, one of which was on a stele.
