Saturday, October 18th, 2008 10 - 4PM

Higgins Armory Museum, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA
http://www.higgins.org

The museum celebrates its return of the nationally travelled "Age of Armor" exhibition which had seen several dozen museums throughout the United States for the past several years. It now returns finally to the Higgins museum, the only museum in the Northeast US solely dedicated to Arms and Armor, showcasing thousands of artifacts from the Bronze Age to the Gunpowder Age.

On Saturday, Oct. 18 the museum will hold a 'timeline' event, featuring area reenacting groups covering nearly 1,700 years of military evolution, coinciding with artifacts in the exhibition.

Featured groups/periods include:

Legio III Cyrenaica, 1st Century Romans

Company of the Wolfe Argent, 15th Cent. Burgundian soldiers

[Hurstwic] Viking/Norse warriors, ca. 10th Century

The Salem Light Infantry, portraying the Salem Militia of 1629
(The SLI does not have a website, but photos are available on the Sword Guild site as well as here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/28555256@N ... 951428970/ )

Each group will have a formal presentation either in the museum's Auditorium or in the Great Hall throughout the day.

Timeline is free with Museum admission.

Now, if we could coax Matt Amt to come north with some of his bronze age gear - that would be awesome! He would not have to drive all the way to Worcester, MA - I have a waystation in Connecticut and I'd happily drive him to Worcester and back to CT.

Yup. It would be just sooooo awesome if Matt Amt could come play with us with all of his incredible Bronze Age gear. Maybe he could bring his Greek stuff, too!

hint hint hint hint hint 8)

We're trying to work out a deal. I sent info from Matt to the Museum. Maybe just maybe we'll work something out for him.

Yup, looking forward to what sort of incentive they can give me! Sounds like a good show, and I'd love to see the Higgins again, of course. Luckily that's all AFTER Roman Days, so I don't really have to think about it, yet!

Valete (or whatever that is in Linear B!),
