The answer is YES! The Northwest Celtic Boar Clan, or NW Celts for short is here! We are based out of Snohomish County Washington and have been working recently with the local Roman group: Legio VI Coh II. We will have our website (nwcelts.com) up soon with more info and pics of our group.

With that said, Why do you ask?

*Edit: after posting this I realize this might be, if I guess correctly, Matt... and you've already met us.

Our tribe is primarily based on 1st c. BC swiss plateau, which would mark us as from the Helvetti tribe. But we cover much more in Celtic history than limit ourselves. As for our roman friends, you can check out their yahoo page:

As of right now we don't have any events coming up in the immediate future, however there has been talk of a history/craft weekend before the year is out.

Sorry Chris, I knew it was you in my edit, I don't know why I typed the name Matt. I must have been thinking of your last name.

Part of how I came to this board (besides armor research) was that I live in the Pacific Northwest and have been unable to find a Greek reenactment group anywhere near this area. Do you guys know of any? If there isn't one I just might be convinced to start one myself...

Rob,
I do not know of any group officially in this area. That said, I think there were a few Greek Hoplites that showed up at the May Egils event in Oregon according to some conversations I had with some of my guys that attended last year.

Rob,

Like Mike said I'm not aware of any Greek groups here in Washington either. On the other hand, even though I concentrate on Celtic, I want to encourage and support any Iron Age re-enactors in our area that I can, no matter the culture. If you ever need a hand, be it from making equipment or research, just let me know. Also if you'd ever want to be a lone greek lost in the barbarian lands, you're more than welcome to share our fire and feast with us.

Years ago I was heavy into the SCA and did notice a Greek or two about. But, I'm hoping to get together with some folks for a bit better historical reenactment than I remember was the norm with that group...Not that I am against camping at an event here and there...

And, thank you for the offer for fire and feast! I do believe I will take you up on that!

Rob.

I wish you well in finding or starting a Greek group. It can take some time and patience as our slowly growing group can attest.

You're always welcome to join our group for events as a Greek or we can help give you being a 1st cen. legionary a try as we have enough extra gear to loan you for an event.

I also live in Vancouver!

I know what you mean about SCA. It truly is "Creative" anachronism. I love many of the people, but at times there is a lack of authenticity.

I have no idea, you'd have to contact James Franklin.
