Hi all
does anybody knows what quality is Edmond Jurien de La Gravière's book La Marine des Anciens?
There are not many books on ancient naval matters so I would like to know if this one is worth of reading. Considering that de La Gravière was 19th century writer I presume his information might be insufficient and out-dated, but on the other hand he was an vice-admiral with distinguished naval career so he might be good in understanding and description of seamanship, ships and manoeuvering.
So far I have read Lionel Cassons's "The Ancient Mariner" and "Ships and Seamanship in the Ancient World"
