I understand that Prof. Thomas Fischer in Cologne (link) who is an acknowledged expert on Roman helmets (see his recent publication Die Armee der Caesaren which proposes a typology) has recently commissioned a corpus of Roman helmets as a PHD thesis project. It is apparently planned to be published in the same format as the Miks work on swords. However, given the huge corpus of material, I think that it may be a few years until we see anything published.
