Breaking News! Romans won in Teutoburg Forest

Here is a piece of an article from the Dutch newspaper Metro. It describes a trip through central Germany, and accidentally betrays one of the best kept secrets of German archaeology (well, at least, no one ever told me): the Romans actually won the battle in the Teutoburg Forest, which they commemorated by erecting the Hermannsdenkmal! Nothing special, really. It is the description of a trip, and after mentioning Bielefeld, it says that "just outside Detmold is the Hermannsdenkmal, which commemorates the Roman revolt and victory". After that, more blah-blah about other places, like Lemgo, Minden, and Hamelin.

But it's in the newspaper that the Romans won the battle, so it's true. :wink:
