Awarding group members "awards"...
#1
So I've decided (with a bit of influence from Edge's group) to award my members for positive behavior over the course of a year. The awards I am planning on giving out will of course not be for being the first over a wall, or saving a roman citizen. Instead, I will give out military awards for:

1. Best overall attendance
2. Best overall impression
3. Best overall contribution to the group
4. Best reconstruction
5. Best esprit de corps

I will be producing a few types of phalerae and torcs/armillae in the upcoming months of this year, so hopefully I will be able to supply myself.

Each category will have a specific award, such as a brass torc, silver torc, glass phalerae etc.

I am trying to limit the awards to ones that could and would be worn by the legionary while in armour, not just special occasions. Normally phalerae were given in sets (I believe I read that somewhere), but since the awards will be given out only once a year, it may take a while to accumulate a full set. As such, depending on the award an allowance could be made.

The reason I'm doing this is to award "good" work ethics and behavior for those who make the commitment. So now on top of enjoying the hobby, the members will be able to sport a bit of "bling" as an added bonus.

That sounds like a great idea...
I have bandied the notion around somewhat myself...
I was thinking of maybe some either repro coins or something like that as well.
