Provincial status of Med. Dea isles

Were the islands/island groups of the Med. sea provinces or were they 'attached' to coastal provinces. Specifically the Balearic Isles, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, Crete, and Cyprus. I had read that for at least part of the imperial period Creta was part of Cyrenaica. Did that apply throughout the empire?<br>
