A sneak preview of a couple of our new Carthaginian structures:

You can see our Carthaginian Sacred Band as well! The Sacred Band (and priestesses, who heal friendly soldiers) will be trained from the Carthaginian Temple you see there.

One of our modelers has started work on the Roman siege walls:

I'm quite curious about this. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more.

Very nice again!

I'm still wondering though, what will be the final stand of you guys on the look of the Spartans(whether you guys will pick the Mora ones or the more "hollywood" ones)?

I was hoping you guys would have some critiques. I might post this in the Roman artwork section instead. Wink

Here is one of our newest ships, the Roman Quinquireme.

Well the Romans are okay for Centurions and look accurate from here however they wouldn't do for regular Miles.

The ships look okay, but I thought a Quinquireme had five banks of oars? Also I'm not sure but I remember reading somewhere that the fighting towers were painted to look like stones (not sure if that's true or not)

Just my two cents
Ben.

Quinquiremes usually had 3 men on the top oar and 2 men on the bottom oar for 5.

Here are a few more images for you guys. Click the thumbnails to see larger.

They did, eh? Evidence?

The art does look nice though!

Well, that's just my justification. Wink I've also read that it's likely that 5 whole vertical banks of oars would be unwieldy, but that's a topic for discussion elsewhere. Wink

The real justification for only two banks on our Quinquireme is that animating 100 oars x 20 ships on screen plus dozens and dozens of men on the decks killing each other would make for some superlative rendering lag. Smile

That's true. I just wondered where you found the exact division of oars, as that is nowhere mentioned in the sources.
Greets!

I've seen other arrangements mentioned, diagrammed, and discussed. The 3/2 split is just my personal favorite and seems most plausible to me.
