Salute from Shiraz (Persepolis)
#1
Hi everybody

Greetings from Shiraz, one of the nicest cities in Iran. I'm here with a group, after a tour through the western provinces of this country. We're now preparing ourselves for our visit to Persepolis, one of the most splendid ancient ruins. As always, meeting Iranians is a pleasure; I've never had such an easy trip.

Take good care, and tell us all about it!

I have not checked this forum frequently since 2013, but I hope that these old posts have some value. I now have a blog on books, swords, and the curious things humans do with them.

Here's the harvest: Sar-e Pol-e Zahab (very ancient reliefs, damaged); Dukkan-e Daud (another relief); Tepe Nush-e Jan (a Median fortress); and Anšan (an ancient city). As always, I return with more photos than I will ever be able to put online.

Best story: Nowruz in the sacred city of Qom. Many happy people in an otherwise slightly depressing town.
Worst story: flying back in an Airbus-319. Fortunately, I had something to read.

It's queen Esther, the Biblical name of Shushtar = Susa
