I couldn't stop laughing today when the BBC northern unit came out with this statement "Tunics took a year to make.Animal sinew was spun to make tunics"
Fasta Ambrosius Longus
John
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

I can just see a reenactor standing by the crowd.
Visitor: Gosh, how long did it take to make a tunic?
Reenactor (with a straight face): About six months to collect enough animal sinew, then three months to spin the fibre, and another three to weave it. A year, altogether.
Visitor: Wow! Thanks!
Give the man a Brown Potato award. Heh.

I wonder what kind of source they got that information from?
