Let's take some time today to reflect on the renewal of the year and all it holds:

huius diem fuget scelera
culpas lavet et reddat innocentiam lapsis
et maestis laetitiam
fuget odia concordiam paret
et curvet imperia

May this day dispel all evil,
wash guilt away, restore lost innocence,
and bring mourners joy,
cast out hatred, bring us peace,
and humble pride.

I am enjoying the "Miraclemaker" again... just love this animated film.

One of the few who portrays Roman armour failry accurately.

I adapted it (to make it more ecumenical) from the 'Exultet' or 'Praeconium' Easter Proclamation, a hymn from the Easter Vigil used in a number of churches. Apparently it is recorded from the C7th and stylistically may date from the 5th.

Have a happy Eastertide Big Grin

Thanks. If you're interesting in those ancient hymns, you may also like the blog article that my friend Richard wrote on the Maundy Thursday mass (here).
